چکیده

A neural network is presented that stores spatio-temporal patterns (synnre-chains) in associative networks of spiking neurons and replays them at a controlable speed. An implicit equation is derived and solved numerically which relates the average speed to the network parameters. The replay speed can be controled by unspeciic background signals and also depends on the number of co-activated synnre-chains. Balanced inhibition can prevent the latter dependency. Simulation results connrm the theory, but reveal instabilities for low and high control signals. These boundaries are traced back to four diierent destabilizing mechanisms.

Dynamics of spatio-temporal patterns in associative networks of spiking neurons

This paper studies dynamical properties of spatio-temporal pattern sequences (\synre chains") in associative networks of spiking neurons. Employing postsynaptic potentials with a nite rise-time, the replay speed of stored sequences can be controled by unspeci c background signals. In addition, the speed also depends on the number of co-activated sequences, but balanced inhibition can prevent th...

Networks of spiking neurons can emulate arbitrary Hopfield nets in temporal coding

A theoretical model for analogue computation in networks of spiking neurons with temporal coding is introduced and tested through simulations in GENESIS. It turns out that the use of multiple synapses yields very noise robust mechanisms for analogue computations via the timing of single spikes in networks of detailed compartmental neuron models. In this way, one arrives at a method for emulatin...

Temporal sequence detection with spiking neurons: towards recognizing robot language instructions

We present an approach for recognition and clustering of spatio temporal patterns based on networks of spiking neurons with active dendrites and dynamic synapses. We introduce a new model of an integrate-andfire neuron with active dendrites and dynamic synapses (ADDS) and its synaptic plasticity rule. The neuron employs the dynamics of the synapses and the active properties of the dendrites as ...

Generalized types of synchronization in networks of spiking neurons

The synchronization of neural signals has been proposed as a tem poral coding scheme in distributed cortical networks Theoretical studies in that direction mainly focused on the synchronization of cou pled oscillatory subsystems In the present work we show that several complex types of synchronization previously described for graded re sponse neurons appear similarly also in biologically realis...

The right delay Detecting spike patterns with STDP and axonal delays

Axonal conduction delays are often ignored in simulations of spiking neural networks. Here, models of spiking neural networks with spiketiming-dependent plasticity, and conduction delays, are used in three simulation experiments. The first two are based on studies by Masquelier et al. [10, 11], and the third is an expansion on their work. First, it is confirmed that a neuron can learn to detect...
